This Tuesday, at 3:30 in the afternoon, in Jacksonport, Wisconsin, there was an accident between two buses.  One bus was a charter bus which drove into a school bus as it was backed out onto the road. Of the 14 students on the school bus only two were injured.  The driver of the charter bus was also injured.  However, although the two buses collided, no one was injured.

A bus accident that occurred in Haiti during tropical storm Fay killed 6 people.  There were several people, including a drowned man, and five other bodies further from the scene found that were known to be on the bus.

Red Cross coordinators and volunteers are struggling to find the true death toll of the bus accident, as those who survived the roll over walked away.  Searchers have also found the bodies of two babies, which lead Red Cross officials to believe that more people may have died than previously believed as more and more bodies are recovered.

In Willowbrook, California, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) bus number 120 was crashed into on 120^th Street near the Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital. An SUV hit the bus after running a red light late Saturday, July 25.  The driver of the bus was thrown from the bus the force landing him in front of the moving bus, which in turn ran him over and killed him. There was only one passenger on the bus at the time of the accident that was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.  The driver of the SUV, also taken from the scene in unknown condition was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.

Safety experts and Texas lawmakers are urging stricter motor carrier regulations enforcement after an illegal bus crash killed many in Texas last week. With two other accidents in Mississippi and Nevada this past weekend, bus safety is prominent in the political agenda. Senators from Texas and Ohio teamed together writing the Motorcoach Enchanced Safety Act.

This bill requires bus’s to provide seat belts and fire extinguishers. It is schedule to have a hearing next month before the Senate’s Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.

13 people are reported dead after a bus carrying members of a Vietnamese Catholic church fell off a Texas highway overpass in the early morning on August 8, 2008.

The chartered bus was carrying a over 50 passengers to a Catholic convention in Carthage, MO when it crashed just north of Sherman, TX on Highway 75. Officials say that the accident could have been caused by a tire blow-out, though the investigation is ongoing.

Twelve passengers died at the scene; another died at a Dallas hospital some time later. Five other passengers were reported in critical condition at local hospitals.
